How we check a website

Scam shops and phishing pages leave traces that are hard to hide: they are usually brand new, they borrow the names of well-known brands, they push payment methods you can't get refunded, and they end up on security blacklists. We look up each of these in public records and security feeds, read the website's own pages the way a careful shopper would, and add up a trust score where every point is explained. You see the full evidence, so you can judge for yourself.

Questions

How do I know if a website is legit?

Look at how old the domain is, whether it is on security blacklists, whether its name imitates a well-known brand, and whether the site lists real contact details and a refund policy. IsSiteLegit checks all of these public signals for you in about 30 seconds and shows the evidence behind every point of the score.

Is IsSiteLegit free?

Yes. Checks are free, there is no sign-up, and we do not sell rankings or trust badges: a website cannot pay to get a better score.

What does the trust score mean?

Every check starts at 60 and goes up or down for each signal we find, for example +15 for a domain older than 10 years or -30 for a domain registered last week. 70 or more is “Likely legit”, 45 to 69 is “Use caution” and below 45 is “High risk”. Sites on a security blacklist are always “Known malicious”.

Can a website be unsafe even if it scores well?

Yes. A check looks at public signals, so it cannot see everything: a real shop can still sell you a bad product, and a hacked site can look normal. Pay with a card or a service that offers buyer protection, and never pay by gift card, wire transfer or crypto to a shop you do not know.
